Despite Chus Mateo having won a EuroLeague, a Liga Endesa, a Copa del Rey, and two Supercups, the possibility of finishing this season without a title has reopened the debate about the team's leadership.

According to Relevo, Real Madrid’s management has decided to make a coaching change for next season, identifying Sergio Scariolo as the frontrunner for the job.

Despite Chus Mateo having won a EuroLeague, a Liga Endesa, a Copa del Rey, and two Supercups, the possibility of finishing this season without a title has reopened the debate about the team’s leadership.

Scariolo is seen as an ideal candidate thanks to his experience and deep knowledge of Spanish basketball: he has already coached Real Madrid, Baskonia, and Unicaja—winning titles with all three—and has been the head coach of the Spanish national team since 2015, with whom he has won a World Cup, four European Championships, and two Olympic medals.
