According to La Prealpina, Scariolo has been approached to join Luka Doncic and Donnie Nelson’s new club, where he is expected to serve as an external advisor and help shape the coaching staff.

A prominent basketball figure could soon join Luka Doncic and Donnie Nelson’s new club.

According to La Prealpina, Sergio Scariolo has been approached by Valerio Bianchini, whom he worked with as an assistant coach in Pesaro during the late 1980s.

For the 2026-27 season, Scariolo—currently a free agent after his early departure from Real Madrid and awaiting new EuroLeague opportunities—is expected to take on an external advisory role.

The Italian coach would be involved in consultations regarding the construction of the coaching staff, beginning with new head coach Alessandro Magro and his assistants. Among them is expected to be Stefan Ivanovic, son of Dusko Ivanovic, who worked alongside Scariolo at Real Madrid last season.
