Real Madrid has announced some significant changes to the club: Sergio Rodríguez has been appointed as the club’s new sporting director.
A legend of European basketball, he won 17 titles with Real Madrid during his career.

A legend of Real Madrid and European basketball, Sergio Rodríguez defended our jersey during one of the most successful periods in our history, winning 17 titles in eight seasons in two phases: 2 Champions Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 4 Championships, 5 King’s Cups and 5 Spanish Super Cups.
He was also the Euroleague MVP and a member of the All-Star Five in the 2013–14 season, the Spanish Super Cup MVP in 2013, and was selected as a member of the All-Star Five three times (2012–13, 2013–14, and 2015–16).
He also enjoyed a successful NBA career, playing for the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. In Europe, as well as playing for Real Madrid, he played for Estudiantes, CSKA Moscow — with whom he won a Champions Cup and two VTB League titles — and EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, with whom he won a Liga, two Italian Cups, and an Italian Super Cup.
He made 154 appearances for the Spanish national team, becoming one of its most legendary figures. He was crowned world champion at the 2006 World Cup in Japan and European champion at the 2015 European Championships in France. He also won two silver medals (at the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2007 European Championships) and three bronze medals (at the 2013 and 2017 European Championships and the 2016 Olympics). Individually, Rodríguez was named in the All-Star Five at the 2015 European Championships.
