A second ownership group is seeking to bring the NBA back to Seattle. According to The Athletic, BlackSun Private Equity has partnered with the Tulalip Tribes to submit an expansion bid.
The proposal includes a new arena and entertainment district on tribal-owned land near Marysville, approximately 35 miles north of Seattle. BlackSun’s bid reportedly values the expansion franchise at $8.1 billion.
The NBA is considering whether to add one or two teams, with Seattle and Las Vegas viewed as the leading markets. A decision is expected by the end of 2026, with a potential launch targeted for the 2028-29 season.
