San Antonio finished last season as the NBA’s most profitable team for bettors placing a theoretical $100 flat bet on every regular-season game. According to a Sports Illustrated analysis, the Spurs generated $2,352.84 in profit for a 28.69% ROI.
The Sports Illustrated study applied a $100 flat-bet model to every regular-season game using historical betting odds. San Antonio, which finished 62-20, ranked ahead of Denver at $1,477.84 in profit and Detroit at $1,273.05.
Boston and the Lakers also made the top five. The Celtics generated a theoretical $1,110.58 profit, while the Lakers produced $978.56, showing that betting profitability depends not only on wins but also on how consistently teams outperform market expectations.
