Keegan Murray suffered a torn UCL in his left thumb during a preseason loss in Portland

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray suffered a torn UCL in his left thumb during a preseason loss in Portland. He will undergo surgery and be reevaluated in four to six weeks, sidelining him for the opening 10 games of the regular season.

The timing is tough for Murray, who is eligible for a contract extension until October 20. Without a deal, he would become a restricted free agent next summer.

A key starter for Sacramento, Murray has played 233 of a possible 246 games in three seasons. Dario Saric, Malik Monk, Keon Ellis or rookie Nique Clifford could replace him in the starting lineup.
