Pacers forward TJ Warren to sit out team’s final 12 games

Although Indiana Pacers guard T.J. Warren has recovered from consecutive stress fractures in his left foot and returned to full basketball activities, he will sit out Indiana’s final 12 games and prepare for the 2022-2023 season, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski

Indiana is well out of the Play-in Tournament race in the Eastern Conference. Warren has missed the entirety of this season and played only four games in 2020-2021.

Tom Thibodeau reportedly to stay the Knicks’ head coach

Tom Thibodeau is expected to remain the Knicks’ head coach as reported by Bleacher Report.

«Knicks governor James Dolan had granted the front office permission to either remove Thibodeau or retain him, sources said – Jake Fischer wrote – But team president Leon Rose has no plans to make any change on the Knicks’ bench, sources said. Thibodeau maintains a frequent dialogue with Dolan following each game and often visits the owner’s box».

Celtics reportedly signing Malik Fitts until end of 2022/23 season

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Boston Celtics are signing Malik Fitts until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The deal for next year is partially guaranteed.

Fitts played 5 minutes in 2 games under the two previous ten-day deals.

Spurs’ Gregg Popovich to coach one more year?

Gregg Popovich could coach one more year before retiring, according to Marc Stein.

Per RealGM, Gregg Popovich recently set the record for most wins by a coach in NBA history. But that accomplishment doesn’t mean Popovich is walking away anytime soon.

While there is no guarantee Popovich will continue to coach the San Antonio Spurs, that seems to be where things are heading. For one more season, at least.

If and when Popovich does decide to move on from coaching, San Antonio would reportedly like to keep the next hire in the organizational family. One name being linked to the job is Quin Snyder, who is currently the head coach of the Utah Jazz. Snyder previously worked in the Spurs organization, as the head coach of the Austin Spurs of the G League.

Kris Dunn reportedly joining Trail Blazers

Kris Dunn is joining the Portland Trail Blazers on a 10-day Hardship deal, Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Dunn, the fifth overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, was released by the Grizzlies last October.

The Providence product owns career-averages of 8.2 points, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals.

Trail Blazers reportedly signing Drew Eubanks to third 10-day deal

The Portland Trail Blazers are signing Drew Eubanks with a new 10-day deal, Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

The big man last night scored 20 points and 12 rebounds in the home win over the Wizards.

The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to sign Alize Johnson with a new 10-day deal, Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

The team will use a Hardship exception, available after CJ McCollum entered the anti-Covid protocol.

Phoenix reportedly signs Danish guard Iffe Lundberg

Danish guard Gabriel “Iffe” Lundberg has reportedly signed a contract with the Phoenix Suns until the end of the NBA season, according to Denmark’s TV 2 Sport.

Lundberg, who was averaging 9.1 ppg and 2.0 apg this season in the Euroleague, parted ways with CSKA Moscow yesterday by paying a buyout himself according to Eurohoops

Pelicans sign Tyrone Wallace to 10-day contract

The New Orleans Pelicans are signing Tyrone Wallace to a 10-day contract. The Pelicans are signing Wallace via a hardship exception.

New Orleans is down several players due to injuries. In addition, guard C.J. McCollum entered the health and safety protocols on Thursday.

Wallace has played for the Long Island Nets of the G League this season. In 16 games (11 starts), Wallace has averaged 21.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Wizards sign Jordan Schakel to two-way contract

The  Washington Wizards announced today that they have signed guard Jordan Schakel to a two-way contract.

The 6-6, 200-pound guard has averaged 14.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game with Capital City this season.

Thunder says Dort, Jones and Muscala are done for season

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced the following injury updates today:

Luguentz Dort underwent a successful procedure today to address a labrum tear in his left shoulder. The procedure was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, with Thunder medical personnel present. Dort is expected to return to full basketball activities prior to the start of the 2022-23 season.

Ty Jerome underwent a successful procedure today to address a sports hernia. The procedure was performed by Dr. William Meyers at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia, with Thunder medical personnel present. Jerome is expected to return to full basketball activities in approximately eight weeks.

Mike Muscala underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure and additional lateral ligament repair on his right ankle today. The procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson at the Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Green Bay, Wis., with Thunder medical personnel present.  Muscala is expected to return to full basketball activities prior to the start of the 2022-23 season.

Zion Williamson returns to New Orleans, will reportedly rejoin Pelicans next week

New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has returned to the city after spending nearly two months in Portland rehabbing his injured foot away from the team, sources told ESPN’s Andrew Lopez

Williamson, who fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during the summer, is set to rejoin the team next week. Sources told ESPN that Williamson will not travel with the team initially, and with the Pelicans set for a quick two-game road trip to Denver and Memphis, Williamson will be back around the team when it returns to New Orleans

The Miami Heat are signing guard Haywood Highsmith to a three-year deal, his agent Jerry Dianis tells ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Highsmith had three 10-day contracts with Heat this season. New deal includes team options for Highsmith, who averaged 2.6 ppg in 9 games with the Heat this season.

Lakers’ Frank Vogel feeling push to demote Russell Westbrook from starting lineup

There has been an increasing push among many in the Los Angeles Lakers organization to demote nine-time All-Star guard Russell Westbrook from the starting lineup, but so far coach Frank Vogel has resisted bringing him off the bench, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The coaching staff and Westbrook have had differing visions on how best to utilize the 2017 NBA Most Valuable Player, and that has partly accounted for some tense moments between Vogel and Westbrook in the past several days, including during a Friday team film session, sources said.

Lakers waived Jordan on Tuesday and Sixers have an open roster spot and desire to add another backup center. Jordan averaged 4.1 ppg and 5.3 rpg in 32 games with the Lakers this season.

According to Jovan Buha, the Los Angeles Lakers are waiving forward Sekou Doumbouya to make room to sign forward Wenyen Gabriel to a two-way contract

The young French forward was averaging 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in G League with the South Bay Lakers.
