Hornets Sign Joe Chealey To Second 10-Day Contract

Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations & General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today that the team has signed guard Joe Chealey to a second 10-day contract. Chealey signed his first 10-day contract with the Hornets on February 21.

Undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, Chealey signed with the Charlotte Hornets and was converted to a two-way contract on Oct. 13, 2018. After becoming a free agent on July 1, 2019, Chealey returned to the Hornets but was later waived on Oct. 13. He has spent the 2019-20 season with the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League.

The 6-3 guard has appeared in two games with the Hornets and has made 34 appearances with the Swarm this season. Chealey is averaging 11.3 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 28.3 minutes per game in the G League. In the 2018-19 season, he appeared in 43 games with Greensboro averaging 16.3 points, 5.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 31.3 minutes while on a two-way contract with the Hornets.

A native of Orlando, Florida, Chealey was a four-year collegiate player at the College of Charleston in South Carolina (2013-2018) and had career averages of 14.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 31.1 minutes per game. As a junior, he was named to the First-team ALL-CAA and was seventh in the conference in scoring (18.0) and fifth in assists. (3.7).

Lakers waive Troy Daniels

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived Troy Daniels.

Per ESPN, The Lakers are planning to conduct a workout for free-agent guard Dion Waiters in Los Angeles on Monday, league sources told ESPN.
The Lakers waived guard Troy Daniels on Sunday, clearing a roster spot that the organization is in no rush to fill. There is expected to be a significant vetting process with Waiters, whose career took a downturn in the past year with the Miami Heat .

Chasson Randle to sign with Warriors

Chasson Randle will sign a contract with the Golden State Warriors, his agent, Darrell Comer of YouFirst Sports, told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

Randle reached a settlement with Chinese team Tianjin, clearing the way for him to sign with the Warriors.

The CBA season is suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Minnesota Timberwolves waive Allen Crabbe

Minnesota TimberwolvesPresident of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosastoday announced the team has waived guard Allen Crabbe, who was acquired by the Wolves on Jan. 16from Atlanta.

Crabbe appeared in nine games with Minnesota this season and averaged 3.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game.

Knicks reportedly hesitant to trade Kevin Knox at deadline

The New York Knicks were reluctant to deal Kevin Knox at the trade deadline, as reported by SNY’s Ian Begley.

Many in the Knicks organization reportedly view Knox as part of their young core moving forward, alongside Mitchell Robinson and RJ Barrett, despite Knox has had few opportunities this season.

The Knicks, under previous president Steve Mills, had put together a deal they felt the Warriors would have liked for D’Angelo Russell. It is unclear whether the package included Knox.

Warriors sign Mychal Mulder to 10-day contract

The Golden State Warriors have signed guard Mychal Mulder to a 10-day contract, the team announced today.

Mulder, 25, owns averages of 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 33.2 minutes over 39 games (34 starts) this season with the NBA G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce, hitting 45.1 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from three-point range.

76ers’ Joel Embiid leaves game with shoulder injury, scheduled for MRI

Philadelphia 76ers lost Joel Embiid to an injury in loss to Cleveland Cavaliers.
As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Embiid will have an MRI today.

Per ESPN, Sixers coach Brett Brown said he was “unsure” whether Embiid would play in Thursday’s home game against the New York Knicks .
“I’m really sort of a prisoner to the medical people’s information,” Brown said after the Sixers’ 108-94 road loss to the Cavaliers. “I haven’t checked in. I just left the team. I’m unsure, I really am unsure.”
