What future for Ettore Messina on Olimpia Milano’s bench? Resignation on the way? After the knockout with Sassari, the talk is of nothing else, and so let’s read the various rumours that have emerged in these hours.

We basically open the dances, as also reported on realolimpiamilano.com earlier today: ‘Ettore Messina, at 4.15pm on Sunday, boarded a Horizont flight to Munich at Alghero airport with the team. In Italy, timidly, rumours of resignation were peeping out. But as of today, nothing is decided.

Anything could happen, every day could be the last for a management that has meant so much».

According to the Trentino daily T: ‘According to various indiscretions, in fact, the white and red red coach, Ettore Messina, will hand in his resignation to Giorgio Armani in the next few hours.

The national press is silent today, or almost silent. Thus the Corriere della Sera: ‘In the post-game of Sassari and until late last night, insistent rumours circulated that Messina would resign in favour of his deputy Mario Fioretti, thus maintaining the presidency of the technical area of the club. Rumours that have remained rumours, the bond with the ownership seems inseparable: Olimpia flew directly from Sardinia to Munich, where tomorrow they will be on the court – with Ettore Messina regularly on the bench – in the first of two consecutive away games in the Euroleague, the second on Thursday in Belgrade’.

His words after the 83-81 win with Darussafaka.

It’s really an honor as a coach. But obviously it’s a situation that hurts us to ensure the continuity of the team.”
