Olimpia Milan has reached a two-year deal with Shavon Shields, born in Overland Park, Kansas, on June 5, 1994, 2.01 mt. tall, small forward and guard, from Kirolbet Baskonia. “I wish to thank Mr. Giorgio Armani, our President Mr. Leo Dell’Orco, Coach Messina and everyone at Olimpia Milano for this opportunity. I’m excited to get to work with my teammates and be a part of this historic club,”, Shields said. “Shavon is a player in his prime, experienced and still young, with the ideal characteristics to be part of our team,” Olimpia’s general manager Christos Stavropoulos said.
HIS CAREER – Raised in Olathe, Kansas, where he attended the Northwest High School, Shields has been the Sunflower conference MVP as a senior at the end of a career in which he finished as the first in school history for points, rebounds and steals. In 2012, he landed at the University of Nebraska, where he stayed four years and finished as the all-time fifth scorer. In 2015/16, he averaged 16.8 points per game and was selected in the All-Big Ten Conference second team. In 2016/17, he played for the Frankfurt Skyliners, before moving to Trento for the playoffs. He played two seasons in Trento, playing the Italian league finals twice. In 2017/18, he averaged 14.3 points per game in Italy. In 2018 he signed for Vitoria, where he made his EuroLeague debut. He averaged 9.6 points per game in 59 appearances. He won the 2020 Spanish championship.
NOTES – Shields ia a Danish National Team member, because of his mother origin. His father, Will Shields, has been a 12-time Pro Bowl NFL selection and is a Hall of Famer after a 14-year pro career with the Kansas City Chiefs.
