Barcelona reportedly limited by budget: exits needed before moving on the market

Barcelona is proceeding cautiously in the EuroLeague transfer market. After signing Tornike Shengelia in April, the Catalan club cannot compete financially for top-tier players like Shorts, Milutinov, Micic, or Maledon. Most of the top salaries are already allocated to Punter, Vesely, and Willy Hernangómez, who is no longer part of the club’s plans.

Barça hopes to negotiate an exit with Hernangómez, who has one year left on his contract, possibly using solutions like those adopted with Calathes, Mirotic, and Higgins. Álex Abrines is also in doubt: his performance has been underwhelming, and his salary is considered high. A salary cut could be the only way to keep him on the team.

The budget won’t increase, and injuries to Laprovittola, Metu, Núñez, and Vesely have complicated the season. The club believes that with better health and two more signings (a center and a wing), it can compete again at a high level.

The wing to be added will depend on what happens with Abrines and Anderson.

Vassilis Spanoulis mystery. Is there or is there not a clause to return to Piraeus?

Vassilis Spanoulis mystery. Does the Greek coach, who took Monaco to the EuroLeague Final Four at the first attempt, have an exit in his contract?

Remember, in November Vassilis Spanoulis signed a 2+1 with the Monegasques, but after the end of the EuroLeague season there was talk of potential interest from Olympiacos to bring him home.

Basketnews, a site very close to Monaco, denied the existence of an exit clause in his contract for this summer. But in Greece, the press has another opinion.

Indeed, journalist Shot Vetakis confirms the existence of a clause that would allow Vassilis Spanoulis to return to Piraeus. But, at the moment, the position of Georgios Bartzokas is far from settled.

Vasilije Micić sets €5M price tag for EuroLeague return

According to Sport24, Serbian star Micić is open to returning to EuroLeague, but his salary demand is €5 million net per season.

Olympiacos’ loss to Monaco triggered a storm of criticism, and head coach Georgios Bartzokas is now in the spotlight. Despite recent success, this latest failure has cast doubt on his long-term position.

Olympiacos reportedly needs Vasilije Micic to rebuild after Final Four failure

The elimination in the semi-finals against Monaco has raised alarm bells at Olympiacos. The current cycle has reached its limit, and a turning point is needed: the perfect name would be Vasilije Micic.

The Serbian, two-time European champion with Efes, is ready to return to the Old Continent and is looking for the right situation. The Piraeus club has already initiated contacts, but technical and financial guarantees are needed to close, given that we are talking about a team that already has the likes of Sasha Vezenkov and Evan Fournier under contract. A contact would have already taken place.

Vasilije Micic in this context would be a more than luxury insertion: a game creator, a winner. After the only Fournier to save himself in Abu Dhabi, the club would like to touch up the roster, and the former Efes could be its new point of reference.
