Rome’s return to big-time basketball is the topic of today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, now on newsstands.
Among the key points of the article by Mario Canfora and Giuseppe Nigro is mention of a consortium that “presented itself to basketball authorities with a written preliminary agreement to purchase the rights to Cremona, whose salvation (10 points above last place) now appears imminent.”
The main reference would be Donnie Nelson, from 2002 to 2021 executive of the Dallas Mavericks and son of the great Don. Donnie would also have Dirk Nowitzki and Luka Doncic as investors in the consortium, although in the case of the German star, spokesman Scott Tomlin denied the news to Marc Stein.
The working group also includes Roberto Carmenati and Rimantas Kaukenas. The team would play at the PalaEuro while awaiting the completion of the Foro Italico roof (mid-2027).
