RJ Nembhard Jr joins BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque
BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque has announced the signing of RJ Nembhard Jr to its professional roster. The 6-foot-5 American guard, 27, joins the French club as a medical replacement for L.J. Thorpe.
Capable of playing both guard positions, Nembhard will provide additional depth to head coach Jean-Christophe Prat’s rotation during a particularly busy month of October.
NBA, G League and European experience
After playing college basketball at TCU, Nembhard began his professional career across the NBA, G League, Europe and China.
In 2022, he had a stint with Italian club Reggio Emilia, where he crossed paths with Mikeal Hopkins. The two will now be teammates again in Gravelines-Dunkerque.
That same season, Nembhard was expected to join Fos Provence as a key addition in the team’s fight to avoid relegation. He made an immediate impression against Blois in January 2023, recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists, but subsequently left the team due to injury.
Strong G League numbers and an impressive Summer League
Nembhard joins BCM with the aim of establishing himself in European basketball. Last season, playing for the Valley Suns in the G League, he averaged 15.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
He also delivered an encouraging performance in this summer’s NBA Summer League, representing both the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards.
