RJ Cole Set to Join Reyer Venezia as Simpson Deal Falls Through

The American point guard, formerly of Rytas Vilnius, is nearing an agreement with the Italian club. Only a shooting guard remains to complete the 2025–26 roster

Reyer Venezia has made its choice: Zavier Simpson is out, and RJ Cole is in. After a long negotiation that never resulted in a signed deal, the club has dropped Simpson and is now close to finalizing a deal with RJ Cole, the 1999-born guard who impressed over two seasons with Rytas Vilnius, recently battling in the Lithuanian league finals against Zalgiris Kaunas.

Cole edged out Skylar Mays (formerly of Fenerbahce) in the club’s internal rankings. The former Connecticut product averaged 11.8 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.5 rebounds in the Lithuanian league and 15.1 points, 3.9 assists in the Basketball Champions League. Professionally, Cole has already played in Greece and Germany before his stint in Lithuania.
