MUNICH (Germany) – The Regular Season groups for the 2020-21 FIBA Europe Cup campaign have been drawn on Tuesday morning in Munich, Germany.
The draw placed the 16 registered teams directly into Regular Season groups, where they will be joined by as many as 11 clubs from the Basketball Champions League Qualifiers.
As communicated in the lead-up to the draw, the competition format for the Regular Season foreseen in the FIBA Europe Cup regulations has been modified to seven groups of three or four teams, with the change approved unanimously by the FIBA Europe Executive Committee.
The results are as follows:
In total, 12 clubs from the Basketball Champions League Qualifiers opted in to play in the FIBA Europe Cup should they not reach the Regular Season of the Basketball Champions League.
Should a team with a FIBA Europe Cup opt-in qualify for the Basketball Champions League, the spot in the FIBA Europe group will remain empty and the group will become a group of three teams.
The decision on the start of the FIBA Europe Cup season, as well as of other European club competitions, will be taken on September 1, 2020 by the FIBA Europe Board.
