Real Madrid is set to match Valencia Basket’s offer for Eli John Ndiaye. According to Marca, the club will exercise its right of first refusal before Friday’s 11:59 p.m. deadline, keeping the forward’s ACB rights.
Real Madrid included Ndiaye in the right-of-first-refusal list last summer after his contract expired and the player decided to pursue an NBA opportunity. Now, also considering Mario Hezonja’s possible departure, the club has reportedly decided to bring back its academy product, valuing his familiarity with the organization, his fit with Pedro Martínez’s basketball and his homegrown-player status.
Ndiaye averaged 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in his last season with Real Madrid before moving to the United States. He did not make his NBA debut with Atlanta, but played in the G League with the College Park Skyhawks, averaging 8.1 points and 6.9 rebounds before a shoulder injury and his return as a Liga Endesa market option.
