Real Madrid is finalizing an agreement with Mikael Jantunen. According to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews, the Spanish club is close to adding the 26-year-old, 2.04-meter Finnish forward after his season with Fenerbahce.
Jantunen is regarded as one of Europe’s most efficient stretch bigs and is expected to help Real Madrid replace the floor spacing lost after Trey Lyles’ departure. Last season in EuroLeague with Fenerbahce, he averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 19 minutes per game, while also posting strong impact numbers according to BasketNews Advanced Stats.
Before joining Fenerbahce, Jantunen had a breakout EuroLeague season with Paris Basketball and helped the club win the 2024 EuroCup. He would become another key addition to Pedro Martinez’s roster, alongside Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Jaime Pradilla.
