Enrique Riquelme, candidate for the Real Madrid presidency, has also addressed the future of the club’s basketball section ahead of the elections. According to Sport24, he wants to strengthen the basketball project alongside the football team.
Riquelme has promised a new 15,000-seat arena in the Valdebebas area. His plan is clear: Real Madrid should remain in EuroLeague, focus on revenue growth and avoid cutting the basketball budget.
“Florentino Pérez talks about selling to foreign funds. I will never sell anything that belongs to the club,” Riquelme said. He also added: “No one is bigger than Real Madrid. Florentino was a great president, but that does not give him the right to sell.”
