Real Madrid have reportedly identified Rudy Fernandez as the possible replacement for Sergio Rodriguez as the head of the basketball section’s sports department.
According to Marca, Juan Carlos Sanchez has chosen the former Spanish forward as his new trusted figure following Rodriguez’s resignation. If Fernandez accepts the role, he is expected to sign his new contract in the coming days.
Fernandez, a Real Madrid legend who wore the white jersey from 2012 to 2024, had so far held an institutional public relations role, representing the club and basketball section at several events without being involved in major sporting decisions.
His responsibilities, under Sanchez’s close supervision, would include handling departures and new signings. Marca mentions Trey Lyles, David Kramer, Chuma Okeke and very possibly Mario Hezonja among the potential exits.
Real Madrid are entering a delicate market phase, with no signings completed yet and Sergio Scariolo waiting for reinforcements ahead of next season.
