Real Madrid have solved a key Liga Endesa issue as Chuma Okeke has obtained his Nigerian passport, meaning he no longer counts as a non-EU player. Signed in the summer as an American, Okeke qualified through family ancestry under the Cotonou Agreement.
Only the formal registration with the ACB is pending for the status change to take effect. No international appearance is required, as Okeke’s nationality is based on family descent, allowing immediate application once paperwork is completed.
That leaves Trey Lyles and Gabriel Deck as the two remaining non-EU players, though Deck is close to acquiring a Spanish passport. Should that happen, Madrid would gain full flexibility on the market; for now, Scariolo can select from 15 players, with 12 allowed per game domestically.
