Around 60 pro-Palestine activists, including members of Usb, Cambiare Rotta, and Potere al Popolo, entered Bologna’s City Hall during a council meeting to protest the upcoming EuroLeague game between Virtus Bologna and Maccabi Tel Aviv on November 21.
Police in riot gear initially blocked access before allowing the group inside the courtyard. Protesters chanted “Israel out of Bologna” and accused Mayor Matteo Lepore of ignoring citizens’ voices. Activist Tony Lapiccirella called for “direct action to stop everything.”
Organizers also announced plans for a general strike on November 28 and another rally on November 21 aimed at blocking the EuroLeague matchup.
