The Portland Trail Blazers have hired Chauncey Billups as their next head coach, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The 2004 NBA Finals MVP was offered and accepted the job on Friday night. Billups is in his first season as an assistant coach, working under Ty Lue with the Los Angeles Clippers. Portland considered the candidacies of Spurs’ assistant Becky Hammon and Nets’ assistant Mike D’Antoni
