Poland punched their ticket to the EuroBasket 2025 quarterfinals with an 80-72 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Riga, securing back-to-back appearances among the competition’s top eight teams.
Bosnia started strong, taking a 23-14 lead after the first quarter behind an efficient 4-of-5 shooting from three, with Jusuf Nurkic scoring 7 early points. Poland struggled initially but closed the gap before halftime, trailing 44-40.
In the second half, Bosnia seemed in control until a 10-1 Polish run swung the momentum. Jordan Loyd and Mateusz Ponitka took over in the final period, capitalizing on Bosnia’s struggles after John Roberson exited with an injury.
Loyd led Poland with 28 points (8/17 FG, 9/9 FT), while Ponitka added a strong 19 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Sokolowski chipped in 10 points.
For Bosnia, Nurkic posted 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks, while Roberson added 19 points on 7/10 shooting before leaving the game.
Poland will face Turkey in the quarterfinals.
