Poland kept their perfect start in Group D at EuroBasket 2025 with a 66-64 victory over Israel in front of 9,000 fans at Spodek Arena. After blowing a 14-point lead, Poland relied on Loyd’s clutch baskets and a strong defensive stand on the final play to seal the win, while Israel suffered their first loss.
Jordan Loyd once again delivered with 27 points and 5 threes, following his 32-point opener against Slovenia. Captain Mateusz Ponitka celebrated his birthday in style with 16 points and 11 rebounds. For Israel, Deni Avdija impressed with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in front of his Portland coach Chauncey Billups.
Despite committing 17 turnovers, Poland’s dominance on the boards (51-40) proved decisive. Igor Milicic’s side move to 2-0 alongside France and now face Iceland, while Israel (1-1) prepare for a tough clash against unbeaten France.
