The night for Dillon Brooks against the Los Angeles Lakers flipped in a moment, right after his go-ahead 3 with 12.2 seconds left.
Going chest-to-chest with LeBron James, the Phoenix Suns forward was hit with his second technical foul and ejected.
It was the latest chapter in a rivalry brewing since the 2023 playoffs, when Brooks called James «old» and proudly said, «I poke bears».
Earlier in the game, Brooks had earned his first tech for repeatedly shoving James on a rebound, while James was T’d up in the third quarter for bodying up Brooks.
Crew chief Tyler Ford said Brooks’ second technical was for «making unsportsmanlike contact during the dead ball».
«He brought his antics. Tonight it cost him», Jarred Vanderbilt said, while Devin Booker backed his teammate’s edge: «I’d rather it the other way — that it’d be too much».
