Joel Embiid has started ramping up toward a return, getting back to individual on-court workouts on Saturday. Head coach Nick Nurse said he doesn’t “want to anticipate anything,” but acknowledged Embiid returning during the team’s upcoming road trip is a possibility.
Embiid will miss his ninth straight game on Sunday when the Philadelphia 76ers host the Portland Trail Blazers. Overall, he has played 33 of Philadelphia’s 67 games so far.
The Sixers are also expected to be without Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr due to injuries on the three-game western swing, while Paul George remains out as he serves a 25-game suspension.
