Philadelphia 76ers, Bob Myers wants collaborative GM: “We’re committed to winning”

The Philadelphia 76ers are searching for a new general manager after firing Daryl Morey, with Bob Myers leading the process.

Myers, the former Golden State Warriors executive who helped build four NBA championship teams, said Philadelphia wants someone able to work collaboratively: “You need good people that are in harmony.” The goal remains building a title team around Joel Embiid, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.

Managing partner Josh Harris confirmed the franchise’s commitment to coach Nick Nurse, saying he will remain in charge next season. Harris also said the front office has the green light to go into the luxury tax.

Myers hopes to hire the next GM before the NBA Draft on June 23, but will not rush the process: “I’m looking for a person who embodies character and leadership.” For the Sixers, this is a crucial reset after another second-round exit.
