Petar Skansi passes away at 78

Skansi won Olympic medals as both a player and a coach

The world of European basketball mourns the passing of Petar ‘Pero’ Skansi, a champion both as a player and as a coach.

As a coach he wrote important pages of history in Italy, for example guiding the Benetton Treviso to its first Italian title in 1992.

It is impossible not to remember among his achievements, again in 1992, the Olympic silver medal in Barcelona at the helm of Croatia, stopped only by Michael Jordan’s Dream Team.

In Italy, Skansi has led several teams, including Fortitudo Bologna, Scavolini Pesaro and Reyer Venezia.
