Pelicans: Zion Williamson to be re-evaluated in ‘2 to 2 1/2 weeks’

Last year Williamson became the first player in NBA history to average at least 27 points on .600 shooting for an entire season.

New Orleans Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin said that Zion Williamson will be re-evaluated in ‘2 to 2 1/2 weeks’ and that there’s no return timetable for now.

The former Duke forward is recovering from surgery on the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.

“It’s everyone’s goal that Zion return to play as soon as is safely possible. Obviously 2 to 2 1/2 weeks from now means he won’t be on the floor for the first week of (regular season) games. When he’s able to return safely, he will do that”.
