After Game 2 of the ACB Finals, Valencia head coach Pedro Martínez erupted over the non-call on Tavares’ block. “None of the three referees called it, so it wasn’t even reviewed. But it was clearly a goaltend,” he said postgame.
Martínez didn’t hold back: “These are experienced referees, but they need to improve now, not next year. You can’t miss decisions like this in a final.”
The coach also urged the league to step up: “Those in charge of these games need to take responsibility. You can’t just ignore a play that obvious.” Fans took to social media to echo his outrage.
