Partizan president Ostoja Mijailović discussed several topics in an interview with Mozzart Sport. Below is an excerpt from his comments.
On the termination of Jabari Parker’s contract:
“We reached an agreement to terminate our cooperation and, in doing so, resolved a very challenging issue for the club. Parker had the biggest contract in Partizan’s history, so it was our responsibility to find a solution that would reduce the financial burden and allow us to continue building the team.”
On the financial details of the agreement:
“For last season, his contract was paid in full, for a gross amount of $3,100,000. For this season, we agreed to pay approximately 50% of his contract. Overall, his signing will cost Partizan slightly less than $5,000,000 over the two contractual seasons. This is an enormous expense for the club, and it is important that the public understands the exact scale of this obligation, but also that, thanks to the agreement, we achieved significant savings compared to the full value of the contract.”
On potential further moves in the transfer market, including Reggie Perry:
“I would prefer not to comment on players who are under contract with other clubs. As for our roster, the team’s needs are assessed by the head coach and the sporting department, while the management works to create the conditions necessary to implement their decisions. If there are any concrete developments, the club will announce them.”
On the derby victory and the team’s future prospects:
“An important victory for the team and our fans. I congratulate the players and the coaching staff for their fighting spirit, responsibility, and approach to the game. The derby carries special significance, but the season is long and there is no reason to get carried away with euphoria. This energy and commitment to the jersey must become our standard in the upcoming games as well.”
