PAOK head coach Andrea Trinchieri spoke after the game against Olimpia Milano: “We didn’t finish the game very well. We made some not-so-smart decisions, so it depends on how you look at things. We are working hard and still have quite a few things to fix. The good thing is that, although we started the game badly, we quickly found a way to deal with Olimpia Milano’s athleticism. Then we moved the ball well, but I have to say that it was simply another preseason game. Our defense wasn’t that good, but offensively we played well and as a team. We will have to improve quite a few things and raise our intensity because our official games start in two weeks.”
The PAOK coach also spoke about the team’s time in Italy during preseason and thanked Olimpia Milano, saying: “We had excellent logistical support. Olimpia Milano helped us a lot. They made their facilities available to us. We had everything we needed. We needed to have an MRI done and, with their help, we managed to do it within 20 minutes, which was very important. We are grateful for the help and support they provided us. This was a very important period for us. It helped us build our chemistry and come together as a team over these two weeks. It is true that we had to leave Thessaloniki to allow the renovation of our locker rooms to be completed, so for that reason we took the team on this long trip, also to see how we would react to all of this. But what is always true is that what is good today is never enough tomorrow.”
Commenting on Naz Mitrou-Long’s performance, Andrea Trinchieri said: “What I can say is that from the first day of preseason, he looked like he wanted to prove something. He works extremely hard and feels good, but the same thing applies to him as well. What he did today is not enough for tomorrow.”
