Panathinaikos have released an official statement following the altercation involving Olympiacos head coach Giorgos Bartzokas and a Greens fan after the Dubai Basketball–Olympiacos game.
According to the club, a Panathinaikos supporter present at the Coca-Cola Arena allegedly insulted Bartzokas and made an obscene gesture toward him. The Olympiacos coach reportedly reacted by climbing over the barriers and confronting the fan, triggering a heated exchange. During the incident, Bartzokas is also said to have insulted Panathinaikos and its supporters, allegedly shouting offensive remarks toward the Greens, which led to strong indignation from the Athens-based club.
In its official statement, Panathinaikos strongly condemned the episode and Bartzokas’ behavior, expressing surprise that Olympiacos did not distance itself from the incident in any way. The club also announced its intention to pursue legal action against Bartzokas, hoping that he will be sanctioned for his conduct.
