Panathinaikos have emerged as a serious suitor for Nigel Williams-Goss. According to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews, the Greek club is putting significant pressure on Zalgiris despite the point guard being under contract and having no exit clause this offseason.
Williams-Goss, 31, signed a 2+1 deal with Zalgiris last summer and is viewed as a cornerstone of Tomas Masiulis’ system. The Lithuanian club expects him to be the team’s primary creator, helping maximize the impact of the American newcomers and Jonas Valanciunas’ presence in the paint.
Panathinaikos, however, have reportedly made a lucrative proposal. BasketNews notes that Williams-Goss is expected to earn around €1.4 million with Zalgiris next season, while the Greek offer could nearly double that figure. The situation may force Kaunas to resist, negotiate a buyout or improve the player’s contract with a new long-term agreement.
