The basketball club Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of Kostas Antetokounmpo for the next two years.

Kostas Antetokounmpo was born on November 20, 1997 in Athens, stands 2.08m tall, and plays in the “5” position.

After his older brother, Giannis, was selected by the Bucks in the 2013 NBA Draft, Kostas, along with his parents and younger brother, Alexis, moved to the United States. He attended Dominican High School and as a sophomore led his team to the state championship.

He played college basketball at the University of Dayton and in the 2017-18 season averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.

He was selected 60th in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and was subsequently traded to the Dallas Mavericks where he also played for their affiliate, the Texas Legends. In 2019, he “moved” to the Los Angeles Lakers and in his first year won the championship (2020). He also played for their affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, and in 38 games emerged as the 5th scorer (14.1p.), third rebounder (7.8r.) and first blocker (1.3) of the team. He stayed with the Lakers the following season (2020-2021), splitting his time between the NBA and the G League.

In July 2021, he signed with LDLC ASVEL with whom he won the French championship and competed in the Euroleague, where he averaged 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 26 games.

On October 14, 2022, he was announced by the Chicago Bulls and played for their affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, averaging 11.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in the G-League, in 12 appearances.

In December 2022, he returned to Europe to play for Fenerbahce Beko. In the Euroleague, he had 14 appearances averaging 2.7 points (14/17 two-pointers, 10/17 free throws). In the Turkish championship, he had three appearances averaging 7.7 points and 5 rebounds.

Kostas Antetokounmpo played with the National Youth team and in the B category of the 2016 Under-20 European Championship, winning the bronze medal.

He was selected for the preliminary squad of the Greek National Men’s team for the 2019 World Cup, participated in the Canadian Pre-Olympic tournament, and competed in the 2022 Eurobasket with our national team.
