Panathinaikos lose preseason opener: Rogkavopoulos suffers injury

Obradovic’s team falls 97-86 to Maroussi in a friendly game, with the main concern surrounding the Greek wing’s quad injury.

Panathinaikos opened its preseason with a 97-86 loss to Maroussi at Agios Thomas, in a game primarily aimed at regaining rhythm and developing early chemistry. The Greek side was heavily depleted, with nine players unavailable due to injuries or recent international commitments.

Kostas Sloukas, Mathias Lessort, Kendrick Nunn, Nigel Hayes-Davis, Sylvain Francisco, Brancou Badio, Isaac Bonga, Dinos Mitoglou and Juancho Hernangómez were all sidelined.

The main concern, however, is Nikos Rogkavopoulos, who was forced to leave the game after suffering discomfort in his left quadriceps. The Greek wing had only returned to team practice a few days ago and was taken to HYGEIA Hospital for further examinations. Panathinaikos is now awaiting the results of the tests to determine the severity of the injury.
