Panathinaikos is increasingly likely to sign Jonas Valanciunas, with the Lithuanian centre’s arrival being confirmed by President Giannakopoulos in an unusual manner on social media.

The president of the Greek club posted a story on Instagram in which he talks to his cat, saying: ‘What did you ask me? He’s coming! Show me your paw — is it ready to sign? Do you have a pen?”

According to the Greek website SDNA, Valanciunas is expected to arrive in Athens this evening, away from the cameras and without fans, to undergo medical examinations with Panathinaikos tomorrow (Saturday 5 July).
