Olympiacos ended their 13-year wait for a EuroLeague title by defeating Real Madrid Baloncesto in Athens, on the home floor of fierce rivals Panathinaikos B.C.. Around 18.000 Olympiacos fans packed the Telekom Center Athens, formerly known as OAKA Arena, to celebrate the championship victory.
Following the final, Panathinaikos shared social media images showing a “disinfection and biological cleaning” of the arena, with visuals reminiscent of the COVID-19 era.
Greek reports also mentioned damage allegedly caused by Olympiacos supporters, including broken seats, lights and windows. EuroLeague additionally fined Olympiacos €8,000 after fans lit flares during the championship game.
