Panathinaikos AKTOR won the 8th edition of the “Pavlos Giannakopoulos” Tournament, defeating PAOK 87-81 in the final at Telekom Center Athens.
Trinchieri’s team started strong and built an eight-point lead in the first quarter (7-15), but Panathinaikos fought back to trail by just two after 10 minutes (19-21). The teams remained close throughout the second quarter, with the hosts taking a 43-41 lead into halftime.
PAOK, led by former Panathinaikos player Cedi Osman, who scored 16 points, moved six points ahead in the third quarter (51-57). The Greens responded immediately, however, and entered the final period with a 61-60 lead.
PAOK appeared to be in control late in the fourth, taking a 77-72 lead with four minutes remaining. Panathinaikos completed the comeback, tying the game at 79-79. The final stretch belonged to Francisco and his teammates, who scored eight of the last 10 points to secure an 87-81 victory.
Sylvain Francisco led Panathinaikos with 17 points, followed by Mathias Lessort and Isaac Bonga with 14 each. For PAOK, in addition to Osman, Marcus Foster scored 15 points after previously playing the hero in the semifinal win over Partizan.
