The relationship between Pallacanestro Trieste and Markel Brown has reached a complete breakdown. The American guard unilaterally informed the club that he would not report just days before the August 19 opening of training camp, despite remaining under contract.
Trieste takes a hard line
According to Il Piccolo, general manager Michael Arcieri has imposed a $5,000 fine for every day Brown remains absent. Trieste is also reportedly demanding $200,000 to release him, while his representatives have offered between $60,000 and $70,000.
The dispute has also damaged the personal relationship between Arcieri and Brown. The two spoke on August 1 and agreed to meet in Trieste before the guard suddenly changed his position.
