Pacers reportedly plan to sign Lance Stephenson for rest of the season

After four 10-day contracts with the Pacers, the veteran forward reportedly earns a permanent spot to stay in Indiana

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly signing veteran forward Lance Stephenson for the rest of the 2021-22 season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Stephenson previously signed four consecutive 10-day contracts with the Pacers as part of the NBA’s COVID-related hardship exception, averaging 9.4 points, 2.9. rebounds and 4.2 assists in 17 games.

The deal would mark Stephenson’s third stint with Indiana, where he was drafted as the 40th overall pick in 2010. The 31-year-old forward spent the first four years of his career with the Pacers, helping the team reach the Eastern Conference finals for two straight seasons in 2013 and 2014. Stephenson returned to Indiana again for one season in 2017-18 where he appeared in 82 games while averaging 9.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
