Pablo Torre has raised new questions about LeBron James’ move to the Philadelphia 76ers, focusing on the role of Topps and Fanatics. He noted that the major announcement was broken by a trading card company before leading NBA insiders.
“I have never seen a big announcement like this broken by a trading card company, but here it was,” Torre said, referring to Topps, which is owned by Fanatics.
Torre also relayed questions being asked around the league: “League sources have been wondering if former Sixers minority owner Michael Rubin flipped LeBron — convinced him to sign with the Sixers at Fanatics Fest.” At this stage, Torre was describing questions and speculation from league sources rather than presenting a confirmed conclusion.
