Orlando Magic president Jeff Weltman does not want to dismantle roster

The Orlando Magic fired coach Jamahl Mosley after their first-round playoff loss to the Detroit Pistons, but president Jeff Weltman said he does not want to dismantle the roster.

Weltman called the defeat a “gut punch,” especially after Orlando led the series 3-1 and collapsed in Game 6. Still, he pointed to Franz Wagner’s injury as a major turning point in the matchup.

“I don’t want to tear this thing down and dismantle it because of the way it ended and certainly one half,” Weltman said. Orlando will now look for a new voice on the bench while keeping faith in its young core.
