Olympiacos responds to Dimitris Giannakopoulos, denying any connection to the Greek basketball investigation and saying it fights for “50-50” officiating

Olympiacos has issued a strongly worded statement in response to Dimitris Giannakopoulos, rejecting any connection between the club and the ongoing investigation into Greek basketball. The Piraeus club claims there is no reference to Olympiacos or its officials in the case.

“We have been informed that the current owner of Panathinaikos is desperately looking for us. In his battle for 100-0 officiating in favor of Panathinaikos, he will not find us as allies. For years, we have been fighting our real battle for 50-50, and we will take it all the way,” the statement reads.

Olympiacos also accused Giannakopoulos of publicly linking the club to the investigation despite, according to the red-and-whites, there being no evidence connecting them to it. “We have nothing and no one to fear,” the club stated. The announcement also contained further criticism of the Panathinaikos owner and referred to his social-media activity: “Don’t post and delete. Everything has been recorded and you will have to provide convincing explanations.”
