Milutinov forced to leave the game
Olympiacos secured another win in Cyprus, comfortably defeating Maccabi after beating Crvena Zvezda two days earlier.
However, the victory came at a cost as Nikola Milutinov was forced to leave the game after feeling pain. The extent of the Serbian center’s injury is not yet known, and there is currently no indication of when he will be able to return to the court.
“Milutinov felt pain and could not continue playing. We will assess which players we can count on and we will see,” Olympiacos head coach Georgios Bartzokas said.
Bartzokas: “We did not play well”
Despite Olympiacos’ consecutive wins against two high-level opponents, Bartzokas was not completely satisfied with his team’s performances.
“These were two games in which we did not play well, we did not find our rhythm and we did not have long enough periods of good basketball. I think we only had flashes”.
The Greek coach nevertheless acknowledged the value of the victories.
“I am not taking away from the fact that we beat two great, high-level teams, Crvena Zvezda and Maccabi. The fact that we have a winning mentality and that, in the end, we do what is necessary to win is important”.
The focus now turns to Milutinov and the results of the medical assessment that will determine his availability for the start of the season.
Milutinov leaves the game after 129 seconds
Nikola Milutinov played just 129 seconds at the beginning of Olympiacos’ game against Maccabi Tel Aviv before asking head coach Georgios Bartzokas to take him out.
The Serbian center felt some discomfort, prompting Bartzokas to pull him from the game and replace him with Donte Hall.
Initial diagnosis: tendinitis
The initial diagnosis indicates that Milutinov is suffering from tendinitis in the left rectus femoris.
As a result, the Olympiacos center was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Further assessments will determine the severity of the issue and his availability for the team’s upcoming games.
