Olympiacos issues statement on Giannakopoulos case: “Complaint against Skindilias was dismissed”

Olympiacos has returned to the incidents that took place at SEF during Game 2 of the Greek Finals in June 2025, issuing a strong statement regarding Dimitris Giannakopoulos. According to the Piraeus club, the complaint filed by Despina Giannakopoulou against vice president Giorgos Skindilias was deemed unfounded and permanently dismissed.

Olympiacos recalled that Skindilias was arrested and taken to a police station following the complaint while recovering from surgery. The club reiterated its position that the complaint ultimately did not stand up before the authorities.

The statement also says that actions attributed to Dimitris Giannakopoulos in connection with that night have been referred to the competent court and will therefore be assessed through the judicial process. Olympiacos closed by stressing its preference for relying on the Greek justice system rather than social-media disputes.
