Olimpia Milan put together a competitive performance in Athens but fell 84-78 to Olympiacos in EuroLeague Round 9.
Milan stayed within striking distance until the closing minutes, but turnovers, offensive rebounds and a big night from Codi Miller-McIntyre proved costly.
Milan started well behind Moses Wright and RJ Cole, but Olympiacos created the first meaningful gap late in the opening quarter and led 25-19 after 10 minutes. Olimpia responded in the second with Marko Guduric, James Burnell and Garrison Mathews, reaching halftime tied at 44-44 despite Miller-McIntyre already scoring 18 points.
Vezenkov and Miller-McIntyre helped Olympiacos regain control in the third quarter, with the hosts taking a 69-61 lead into the fourth. The Greek side then moved ahead by 11, but Milan fought back with a 1-10 run led by Burnell and Guduric to get within two.
Olympiacos eventually closed it out through Cory Joseph and Tyson Ward, securing the 84-78 win. Wright, Cole, Burnell and Guduric were among Milan’s best performers, while Miller-McIntyre and Vezenkov made the difference for the hosts.
