Olimpia Milano officially presented all seven of its summer acquisitions at the Scalo Milano Hub, with fans and media in attendance. The spotlight naturally fell on Marko Guduric, the marquee addition and expected leader of Ettore Messina’s revamped roster—though the Serbian guard quickly downplayed that label.
“I don’t really like the word ‘leader,’” Guduric said. “We’re all leaders. It’s a team game and the team is what matters most. We all need to be on the same page, trust each other and the coach. The key is putting the team ahead of the individual.”
On his arrival in Milan, Guduric expressed excitement about the club’s ambitions:
“I’m happy to be here, where the goals are always the highest. This is a new challenge for me after so many years with Fenerbahce, and I’m highly motivated.”
The 29-year-old highlighted the decisive role of head coach Ettore Messina:
“I spoke with Messina a lot, and he was one of the main reasons I came. I also talked with Stavropoulos to get a general idea about the club before making my decision.”
Regarding his fitness, Guduric said progress is steady:
“Everything is going in the right direction. I started working with the team a couple of days ago, and we’re taking it day by day. First and foremost, I need to stay healthy to help the team move in the right direction.”
As a reigning EuroLeague champion, Guduric outlined what it takes for success at the highest level:
“Beyond staying healthy, it’s important to have patience, work every day to improve, believe in the process, and take it one game at a time.”
He even set a lighthearted personal goal:
“I hope to speak a little Italian by the end of the season.”
