Olimpia Milan has reached an agreement to extend Shavon Shields’ contract until 2026. “Shavon is a winner, a player of the highest level who in recent years has proven to be perfect for what we intend to continue to build. We are happy that he stays with us for a long time and that he can continue writing the history of this club,” Olimpia general manager Christos Stavropoulos said. “I’m very honored that Olimpia Milan is showing me this kind of trust and confidence. IN MILAN – Shavon Shields, born in Overland Park, Kansas, on June 5, 1994, 2.01 mt tall, small forward and shooting guard on the court, came to Milan in July 2020 from Baskonia. During the season that just ended, he became the third all-time EuroLeague scorer for Olimpia. During the playoffs he became the club’s eighth-best scorer in the post-season. He became also the third scorer ever in Italy in championship series game. He became the second foreign player to reach the finals in each of his first five seasons in Italy. Finally, he won the championship, averaging 11.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He was the MVP of the 2022 Italian league playoffs, he’s also won the Italian Cup twice and the Super Cup once and helped the team reach the EuroLeague Final Four in 2021. He was a All-EuroLeague second-team selection twice, in 2021 and in 2022. 

HIS CAREER – Raised in Olathe, Kansas, where he attended Northwest High School, Shields was MVP of the Sunflower conference as a senior following a career in which he became the all-time school leader in points, rebounds, and steals. In 2012 he landed at the University of Nebraska where over four years he became the fifth scorer ever. In 2015/16 he averaged 16.8 points per game and was named to the Big Ten Conference second team. In 2016/17 he played for the Frankfurt Skyliners before moving to Trento for the playoffs. In Trento he played two seasons, reaching twice the championship series. In 2018 he moved to Vitoria where he made his EuroLeague debut. He won the Spanish title in 2020.
