Olimpia Milano officially began their new season, returning to work after a dominant campaign in Italy that ended with the Supercoppa Italiana, Italian Cup and Scudetto. Tuttosport has assessed Armani’s new project, with Milano once again entering the season as the team to beat domestically while also aiming to make a deeper impact in the EuroLeague.
The offseason brought significant changes to the roster, with players such as Shavon Shields, Jeff Brooks, Zach LeDay and Josh Nebo leaving the club. Among the new additions are Daevon Hall, Alec Peters, Moses Wright, Darius Thompson, Nicola Akele, Jason Burnell and RJ Cole. The final addition was Garrison Mathews, officially announced shortly before the start of training camp after his NBA experience with the Indiana Pacers.
Milano will once again enter the Italian season as the favorites on paper. Venezia and Virtus Bologna are expected to be among their main challengers, while Napoli, Tortona and Varese have also strengthened their rosters. The two new Rome-based teams, SPQR and Maxima, will also be worth monitoring.
The start of training has been affected by national-team commitments. Ricci, Akele, Thompson and Tonut are with Italy, Bolmaro with Argentina, Guduric with Serbia and Wright with North Macedonia. Olimpia’s first preseason game is scheduled for August 29 against Varese.
